Key Differences – 2019 Mazda6 and 2019 Chevrolet Malibu
The 2019 Mazda6 lineup offers two different power-packed engine options to deliver optimal performance in every model. The Sport and Touring Mazda6 models are powered by the base SKYACTIV®-G 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine with VVT and Cylinder Deactivation, which delivers 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. For a more powerful performance, drivers can opt for a Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, or Signature Mazda6 model which feature a SKYACTIV®-G 2.5T Dynamic Pressure Turbo DOHC 4-cylinder engine with VVT and produce 227 to 250 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The competing 2019 Chevrolet Malibu also offers two gas-powered engine options – a 160-horsepower 1.5-liter Turbo 4-cylinder engine and a 250-horsepower 2.0-liter Turbo 4-cylinder engine.
Safety is a priority for the 2019 Mazda6, which is why every model in the five-trim lineup offers a full range of safety and driver-assist technologies. Every Mazda6 model comes standard with the Blind Spot Monitoring System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Advanced Smart City Brake Support with pedestrian detection, High Beam Control, Smart Brake Support with Collision Warning, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and other advanced safety features. Higher Mazda6 trim levels offer even more driver-assist and safety features. To get similar driver-assist features in a 2019 Malibu, drivers must opt for one of the higher Malibu trim levels.
