Under the hoods of the CX-5 Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring is a SKYACTIV®-G 2.5-liter DOHC engine mated to a SKYACTIV®-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission. With this power duo, these CX-5 models generate an adrenaline-pumping 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque on the road. The elite 2019 CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve and Signature models come standard with a 2.5T SKYACTIV®-G engine with 250 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque on tap. The third available engine is new for the 2019 model year and is a SKYACTIV®-D 2.2-liter diesel engine. This diesel engine option generates an impressive 168 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. Drivers can choose between front-wheel drive and the available i-ACTIV AWD® for their 2019 Mazda CX-5. The competing 2020 Kia Sportage lineup offers a standard 2.4-liter Inline 4-cylinder engine paired to 6-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic® or the available 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine. The standard Sportage engine generates 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, while the available turbocharged engine generates 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.
