The Mazda CX-9 turned heads with its nimble handling ability and strong performance features when it first debut back in 2006. With rumors swirling before its release, many people wondered if the 2016 Mazda CX-9 had a turbo engine. The all-new 2016 Mazda CX-9 has a 2.5-liter direct-injection turbo charged gas engine that helps this large SUV deliver better fuel economy and more mid-range torque than other SUVs on the market. The 2016 CX-9 looks to be well worth the wait.
The all-new Mazda CX-9 features a 2.5-liter direct-injection turbo
The SKYACTIV-G 2.5T utilizes a high compression ratio, dynamic turbo, and cooled exhaust gas re-circulation in order to squeeze out the most fuel efficiency possible.
Like the other vehicles in Mazda’s lineup, the 2016 Mazda CX-9 offers a great combination of fuel economy and performance. The SKYACTIV-G 2.5T is the first turbocharged engine in the SKYACTIV-G lineup of engines.
What’s different about the CX-9 direct injection turbo?
The SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine does not suffer from poor dynamic performance at low rpms, turbo lag, or poor fuel efficiency. Thanks to something called Dynamic Pressure Turbo, a complex turbocharging system, the SKYACTIV-G 2.5T is able to overcome those issues. This engine features 310 maximum pound feet of torque. While the CX-9 notably has lower horsepower numbers than some of the other SUVs in its class, the reality is that customers should really be focused on the amount of torque available fi they want a quick, responsive drive.
What makes Mazda different from other auto makers, is its commitment to bring fun-to-drive vehicles to the masses. Mazda’s lineup of SKYACTIV-G engines combine exhilarating driver performance as well as outstanding fuel efficiency.
