Despite some of its cultural shortfalls in America, the family cruiser station wagon has been making a comeback thanks to some exciting new cars. The wagon has remained popular in European countries with its versatile cargo space and sedan-like fuel efficiency.
A Mazda Wagon would be stiff competition
Auto manufacturers like Volkswagen and Subaru have cornered the American wagon market with the popular Subaru Outback and the new Volkswagen Golf SportWagen. While many manufacturers have attempted to challenge the Outback, few have succeeded. With Mazda’s recent success of the Mazda 3 hatchback and Mazda CX-3 compact crossover, they’ve shown they really have what it takes to provide the American consumer with a worthwhile challenger to the Outback.
Many of the other vehicles put forth by other manufacturers have failed so poorly, they’re not even in production any longer.
Mazda Koeru wagon-style concept
The Mazda Koeru concept vehicle could be the formidable challenger to the Subaru Outback that we have been waiting for.
While the Mazda CX-3 was aimed at city dwellers with its nimble handling and exceptional fuel economy, this wagon concept will be targeted at outdoors men and women with its higher drive clearance and versatile cargo space.
The Koeru concept looks drastically different than the utilitarian Subaru Outback. While it does evoke memory of a station wagon, the Mazda concept is curvy and muscular like the rest of the Mazda lineup. Even if this concept isn’t billed specifically as a station wagon, there’s still more room for another crossover in the market as more buyers than ever flock toward the category.
Serra Mazda’s lineup of crossovers is exceptional. We’ve got a variety of Mazda CX-3 and CX-5 crossovers in stock and ready to test drive. Stop in and see what it’s like behind the wheel today!
