The car-buying process can be complicated, especially with all of the information out there. Luckily, Serra Mazda Birmingham is here to set the record straight and let you know of common myths when it comes to purchasing a new Mazda vehicle.
- Visit on a rainy day to get a better deal. While it’s true that our Birmingham area dealership sees less customers on days with bad weather, it doesn’t mean we’re going to bump down prices. Regardless of rain, snow, or sunshine, we will work hard to find you discounts and a payment plan that works for you.
- Hide your trade-in. Some people believe that not mentioning the fact that you’re interested in trading-in your current vehicle gives you an advantage. That’s not the case. It’s actually best to be up front with our sales staff so we can start off on the same page and find something affordable for you and your specific situation.
- Dress down to get a discount. It’s a rumor that dressing in ragged clothing or showing up in a junker will get you a lower rate. It’s believed that a salesman will assume you don’t have a lot of money, and therefore will give you a bigger discount. Regardless of dress, you’ll receive the same great customer service and prices as everyone else.
The Serra Mazda Birmingham staff is well-aware of these myths and want you be aware of them too. When you’re ready, visit our dealership at 1503 Gadsden Highway in Trussville, AL to check out our new and pre-owned inventory. We want to get you behind the wheel in a few test drives so you can truly feel the difference between various models. Our Trussville, AL Mazda dealership is excited to see you soon!

In 1920, the Toyo Cork Kogyo Corporation was founded in Hiroshima, Japan—the beginning and origin of the Mazda brand. First starting with machine tool manufacturing, the company quickly began making a mark in the automotive industry with the production of 66 three-wheeled trucks, called the Mazda-go, in 1931.
Eventually, a four-wheel light truck was introduced, as well as the R360 Coupe—the first Mazda two-passenger car with a 365cc air-cooled 16 horsepower engine. The model created an opportunity for everyday consumers to purchase a car thanks to affordable pricing. And in 1963, Mazda celebrated a one-million production status.
Soon after, Mazda began serious outreach and exportation efforts to Europe with the addition of the Mazda Cosmo Sports, the Mazda Luce, and the Mazda Bongo to its inventory. Innovation was a key component of Mazda vehicles, introducing a rotary engine and the enhancement of both diesel engines and fuel economy. Ford, Nissan, and Mazda established the Japan Automatic Transmission Company (JATCO) in 1969—showing the limitless possibilities within the auto industry.
Over the years, Mazda has debuted new vehicles with updated features, creative technological solutions, and a stylish design. From pick-up trucks to family-friendly sedans to sophisticated sports cars, the brand has truly touched the industry in a variety of ways. And it continues to grow. In 2015, Mazda celebrated the production of more than 3 million new-generation vehicles and a multitude of awards.
